When choosing a name for this practice, I wanted something that reflected both the heart behind the work and the deeper meaning of healing, growth, and resilience. Wildflower And Willow Counseling represents two beautiful and powerful images found in nature—each symbolizing something meaningful in the therapeutic journey.
The Wildflower
Wildflowers are often overlooked, yet they are some of the most resilient and beautiful parts of the natural landscape. They grow freely, sometimes in the most unexpected places, thriving without needing perfectly cultivated soil or carefully arranged gardens.
Wildflowers remind us that:
Beauty can grow in difficult places
Growth does not have to look the same for everyone
Each person is unique, colorful, and valuable just as they are
No two wildflowers are identical. They grow differently, bloom at different times, and bring their own colors to the world. In the same way, every person who walks through our doors carries a unique story, unique strengths, and a unique path toward healing.
This idea is also reflected in scripture:
“Consider the wildflowers, how they grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.”— Luke 12:27
This verse reminds us that we are cared for, valued, and beautifully made. We are not meant to compare ourselves to others or feel that we must carry every burden alone. Sometimes healing begins with simply recognizing that we are already worthy of care, compassion, and growth.
The Willow
The willow tree represents another important aspect of healing: resilience.
Willow trees are known for their flexibility and strength. During storms, they bend with the wind rather than resisting it. Because of this, they rarely break. Their branches sway, adapt, and survive even the strongest pressures.
This image reflects the emotional resilience that many people develop through life’s challenges.
Life brings storms—grief, anxiety, trauma, self-doubt, and overwhelming responsibilities. Therapy is not about pretending those storms do not exist. Instead, it helps people learn how to bend without breaking, to adapt, and to rediscover their inner strength.
Just like the willow tree, people are often far stronger than they realize.
Bringing the Two Together
The name Wildflower & Willow Counseling represents both gentleness and strength.
Wildflowers remind us that each person is beautifully unique, capable of growth even in unexpected places. Willow trees remind us that strength does not always look rigid—it can look like flexibility, resilience, and quiet endurance.
Together, they represent the heart of this practice: creating a space where individuals—especially women, teens, and children—can feel safe enough to grow, heal, and rediscover their strength.
Healing does not require perfection. Sometimes it simply requires the right environment to grow.
And just like the wildflowers, each person who comes here brings their own color and beauty to the world.
